Both the teams had played 4 matches so far even though we had result for only two matches and series now leveled 1-1. Whichever team wins today will win the series but the question is will weather permit. If the weather is good we can watch a good cricket today.

Anyways good thing for cricket is no rain so far and match going on as usual. West Indies lead the series 1-0 and win here today for WI will put NZ in a must win situation for rest of the games to level the series but things don’t seem to be going right for West Indies with top order failing to score runs and now it’s upto lower middle order to do the repair work.

With first match washed out in a five match ODI series, there is a possibility of series draw . Chanderpaul misses out due to injury and apart from that both teams remain unchanged.

Thanks to Gayle, West Indies are back in game and has better chance of winning this now than New Zealand. The way New Zealand have been playing lately (Slow starts), I don’t think they stand a chance here but who knows they might decide to play a bit faster and try to chase the score West Indies set for them. With Gayle at crease, West Indies should be thinking to add another 50 runs quickly and declare if not get all out to give bowlers a chance who has done a wonderful job this series. Gonna be interesting final day.

Thanks to Edwards, West Indies managed to restrict New Zealand for 371 after a good start giving NZ a lead of 64 runs. Both openers started off very well for West Indies but lost couple of wickets quickly just before Stumps Day 3 giving New Zealand an edge. West Indies need atleast 250+ lead on board to win this game while New Zealand will be happy restricting West Indies for another 150 odd runs to have a better chance to win this game.

New Zealand trail by 162 runs at stumps Day 2 and if they continue to play at the current RunRate they might need entire day to move from trail to lead but with Ross Taylor at the crease they might accelerate from now on. If they can get a lead of 75 runs in 1st inning before end of day then they will have better chance to win this game. West Indies need early wickets to restrict New Zealand from getting any kind of lead.

New Zealand on top at end of Day 1 but one need to appreciate Chanderpaul’s effort to lead recovery for West Indies after losing quick wickets and with Chanderpaul still at crease West Indies should be looking to extend the score to 350 to have a fair chance to go for a win.

Weather forecast for Napier is not great but good enough to have full day play according to weather reports. West Indies confidence must be high after managing draw in 1st test to move to 7th position in ICC Test Rankings and would be willing to retain the rank either by win or draw in 2nd test.

New Zealand almost had match under their control and were close to winning (Atleast had a chance)  but Jerome Taylor screwed it up for them and probably one of the best innings from West Indies tailender just when needed to save the match. Chanderpaul as usual did his job holding the wicket on the other end as much as possible and now this match certainly gonna be endup as a draw unless one of the teams have worst day ever.

The way this game is going on I don’t think we will have any result but things can change quickly and West Indies is very much capable of collapse. With 300+ lead and innings left at end of Day 3, I don’t think any team can lose from sucha a position.
