Yusuf Pathan is the Man of the Match

Dilshan : "I thought 170 was defendable. We started well, picked some early wickets, but both Yusuf and Irfan played really well. We conceded too many extras, that eventually made the difference."

Dhoni: "Their spinners bowled really well, and although our batsmen struggled, it’s a good learning curve for them. There are lots of youngsters in our team and stiff matches like these is a great learning experience."

Result India won by 3 wickets (with 4 balls remaining)

Due to the terrorist attack in Mumbai, the inaugural Champions League Twenty20, which was scheduled to begin in Mumbai on December 3, has been postponed. Lalit Modi told that the tournament is likely to be held in India early next year.

"We held consultations among all the stakeholders including the founding members, the participating teams and members of the governing council after the unfortunate terrorist attacks in Mumbai on Wednesday night," Lalit Modi said in a statement. ICL World Series, 2008, ICL India vs ICL Pakistan, 2nd Match, Highlights

November 25th, 2008 Comments Off Posted in 20-20, ICL, Match Highlights, Twenty 20

Well it was indeed a close game. India won the toss and elected to field. They got off to a good start by removing the danger man Nazir early but Rana Naved made the most of his rich form. However, Pakistan lost wickets regularly and this was despite the fact that India dropped a lot of catches. 165 was never going to be too tough an ask and the Rayudu-Khaleel partnership made things easier. But there was twist in the tale again as India lost a few wickets but Badani sealed the match with some fantastic strokeplay.

Ambati Rayudu is the Man of the Match for his outstanding innings that set the platform for the run chase. India lost wickets regularly but Rayudu held fort and ensured that they do not falter.

ICL Pakistan team is as good (or even better) as Pakistan national team at the moment and with players like Razzaq, Mahmood, Naveeed and Haq I don’t think ICL India has any chance to win this game but will be a good test for India.
