Bangalore: 137/9 – Van Der Merwe 32 (21), Ross Taylor 27 (20) – Pragyan Ojha 4-28-3, RP Singh 4-16-1

Gilchrist: It could have gone either way. Would like to acknowledge RCB on an outstanding series and to turn it around after the disappointments of last season is a real credit to them and their whole franchise. Pragyan Ojha did a wonderful job and two wickets in two balls that really starts to eat away at a team when they are chasing. In a final it is always a good position to have runs on the board. Harmeet took an amazing catch, amazingly he played in 7 games and we did not lose one of them. Maybe we should have played him in all 15 or 16. Would like to thank SA, and the sponsors. Also thank the owners, it was a tough year last year, but thanks for having faith on us. Also would like to say HI to everyone in Hyderabad, I know it is almost like a Diwali over there.

Anil Kumble: Congrats to Deccan Chargers, the way both teams finished last year and I would like to thank all my team members for their support. I think chasing 144 on this wicket was not a big task, but the wickets of Rahul, Rossco and Virat probably put the brakes on and then the run-rate shot up. Whenever the situation was tough I had to put my hand up and it worked well. I would like to thank everyone who has prayed and wished us back home. Also would like to thank Mallya and team for their support.

Rohit Sharma: Always South Africa has been lucky as we won the World cup so I was happy it was staged here. For the first few games the it was not easy to bat on, but as it progressed I really enjoyed my batting as it suits my style. I just kept it simple and backed myself. 

Adam Gilchrist is named the Golden Player of the League. 
RP Singh wins the Purple Cap for being the leading wicket taker in this season of the IPL. He picked up 23 wickets. 
Orange Cap stays firmly on Matthew Hayden’s head. 
Rohit Sharma bags the Under-23 Success of the Tournament award.

    Kumble: "One more win will be nice. Their score was not even a par score. Our batsmen backed themselves to clear the boundary. I thought Praveen and Vinay bowled very well at the end."

    Pandey is the Man of the Match: "Today I got the license from Anil bhai to hit. I didn’t want to get out to Murali and wanted to give Rahul the strike."

    Bangalore get there in 19 overs: Jacques Kallis 58 (56), Rahul Dravid 38 (34), Ross Taylor 25 (12)

    Kallis: I think the big games, you need your senior players to come through. Chasing down that total, we needed one guy to bat through. The wicket is a little bit slow..as long as you keep wickets in hand you can always chase it down. It was an all-round performance. We lost 4 games in between but the guys have come back strong, they are hungry. 
     
    Kumble: I thought everyone chipped in. Praveen Kumar at the start was fantastic, so was Kallis. Kallis and Rahul had that partnership, andd he batted through. we just wanted to take one game at a time, we wanted to go out there and win a cricket match. You need to win the first 6 overs to put some pressure on the opposition. We’ll know exactly what we need to do and we’ll go all out. (for the last game) 
     
    Sehwag: We lost 2 wickets in the first over and we didn’t get a good start. We’ve qualified for the semi-finals, boys were a little bit relaxed. I’m not worried about my form, I’m just one inning away from my form. If me and Gautam give a good start, then we have AB (de Villiers) and Dilshan in good form and Dinesh Karthik down the order.

    Royal Challengers Bangalore 132 for 8 (Taylor 46, Kohli 38) beat Chennai Super Kings 129 (Hayden 60, Kumble 2-12) by two wickets

    Dhoni: "Not really happy. We tried to win a game out of it. Our fielding has been suspect throughout the tournament. We are a safe fielding side, but not a brilliant fielding side. We have a lot of youngsters in the side who can’t throw or run all that well. We were clearly about 20 short. "

    Kumble: "It was a fantastic effort. The bowling was brilliant. In the end Ross Taylor saw us through. We stuck to plan. We wanted to get Haydos early on but that didn’t happen. Still overall our plan worked. Kallis bowled brilliantly. We’d like to take it one game at a time."

    And the Man of the Match for two games running is Taylor. Kudos. "Hayden put us on the back foot but the bowlers and our fielding put us back in the game. Both teams bowled well. I always though we could finish it but I was disappointed I got out when I did."

    Royal Challengers Bangalore 176 for 4 (Taylor 81*, Kartik 2-28) beat Kolkata Knight Riders 173 for 4 (McCullum 84*, Hussey 43, Vinay Kumar 2-33) by six wickets

    McCullum: "I thought 170 was pretty good, but the way Ross played was fantastic. Nice to make contribution, but still disappointed. We have to try and regroup again. We weren’t consistent enough with the ball." That’s putting it mildly.

    Kumble: "Great batting by Ross Taylor. It was important to not lose an early wicket – Kallis and Ryder managed that, and then Ross took it away."

    Taylor, Man of the Match: "It was a relief to contribute to a win, so it was good to repay the faith to the management."

    Scoreline: Kolkata 173/4: Brendon McCullum 84 (64), David Hussey 43 (27)
