Lahore Badshahs kicked of the best of three finals by winning the first match and what a run Naveed-ul-rana is having at ICL. Last match one was not a high scoring one and all credits to Pakistan bowlers.

ICL Lahore Badshahs beat Hyderabad Heroes 1st Finals Highlights

Nov 13, 2008, Thu (ICL Ist Final) Lahore Badshahs beat Hyderabad Heroes in a day and night encounter on Thursday at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad to win the first finals of ICL 20-20 Indian Championship, 2008/09.

Imran Farhat put Badshahs on the path to victory with a brilliant knock of 65 runs off 39 balls with five fours and five sixes.
Put in to bat, Heroes openers James Maher (45) and Ibrahim Khaleel (25) gave their team a reasonable start as they put on 49 runs for the first wicket before the latter was tapped plumb by Naved-ul-Hasan.

Maher then gave company to Abdul Razzaq, who put on 79 runs for the second wicket.
Razzaq played a brilliant knock of 69 off 46 balls which comprised six fours and three sixes.   

However, Heroes, who it seemed would score beyond 200, ended their innings at 170 for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.
The credit of restricting the score went to Naved, who took three wickets conceding 25 runs off four overs, and Mohammad Sami with figures of none for 27 off four overs.

Naved also effected a run-out.
Imran Nazir (26) started with a bang but lofted one off Raazaq’s bowling to Justin Kemp in the deep.
His knock contained three fours and two sixes and came off just 10 balls.
Next batsman Naved (18) also got out trying to step up the run rate when the Badshahs score was 82.   
Farhat then started scoring briskly and punished all the bowlers in the bargain.
He was caught by Inder Shekar Reddy off Anirudh Singh.
Heroes skipper Chris Harris took the vital wicket of his Badshahs counterpart Inzamam-ul-Haq (5) when he had him bowled.
Boje was the most successful bowler for Heroes with figures of one for 20 off four overs.  
Farhat was adjudged man of the match.

Nov 11, 2008, Tue (2nd Semi Final) Hyderabad Heroes beat Royal Bengal Tigers by six wickets in a day and night encounter on Tuesday at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad to enter the finals of ICL 20-20 Indian Championship, 2008/09. Stuart Binny (45) steered the Heroes to victory in a thriller.

Binny’s knock contained four sixes and two boundaries

Heroes openers James Maher (14) and Ibrahim Khaleel (32) gave Heroes a good start as they put on 44 runs for the first wicket.

But, Lance Klusener sent them both back to the pavilion.
Abdul Razzaq (26) also chipped in with a useful knock.
Put into bat,Tigers started disastrously as they lost three wickets with only 10 runs on board after 4.1 overs.

But, Rohan Gavaskar (78) and Klusener (74) came together at this stage and consolidated Tigers position as they put on 145 runs for the fourth wicket.
Gavaskar’s knock had six boundaries and four sixes and came off 47 balls, while Klusener scored his runs off 54 balls with four fours and four sixes.

Abdul Razzaq was the most economical bowler for Heroes with figure of one for 16 off four overs.
Boje conceded 38 runs off four overs to be their most expensive bowler.
Binny was adjudged man of the match.

Nov 9, 2008, Sun (ICL Match 35) Ahmedabad Rockets beat Chandigarh Lions by 39 runs in a day encounter on Sunday at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Murray Goodwin made a quick 61 of 31 balls, with six fours and one six, to help the Rockets to post a victory over the Lions.
Electing to bat, Ahmedabad Rockets began their innings at rocket speed. Rockets blazed all their cylinders to set up a handsome target of 197 runs in their stipulated 20 overs.
Even after losing first wicket in third over, the Rockets didn’t loose their nerves and carried on in great style to make a big score at a rate of 9.93 runs per over.
Martin Sanjeev (31), who scored three sixes and a four, and skipper Ryan Campbell (28) also chipped in for Rockets.
Skipper Andrew Hall was the most expensive bowler for lions conceding 47 runs in four overs, while Love Ablish took four wickets for 35 runs.
Lions started disastrously as they lost three wickets with just 12 runs on board.
Jason Gillespie, who took two wickets conceding 13 runs, and Rakesh Patel bowled tightly to put Lions on the back foot.
Hall (22) tried to put Lions in the chase, but ended his innings holing out to Reetinder Sodhi off Suman Kalia.
By the time Karanveer Singh (42) and Amit Uniyal (45) launched into late counter-attacks with seven sixes between them, Lions had already lost the advantage to Rockets.
Sodhi was outstanding in the field for Rockets taking three catches and effecting one run-out.
Goodwin was adjudged ‘man of the match’.
