England vs West Indies Day 2 Highlights 1st Test
Watch cricket highlights of the 2nd day’s play from the 1st test – West Indies vs England – from Sabina Park Jamaica, 2009.
Scoreline: England 318 all out – Matt Prior 64. West Indies 160/1. Chris Gayle 71 no, Ramnaresh Sarwan 74 no.
Andrew Flintoff disappointingly was out early in the morning and the England innings revolved around a Matt Prior half century. A couple of referrals later, the England innings was through, with spinner Sulieman Benn picking up 4 for the innings.
Chris Gayle kicked off the WI 1st innings with a stunning straight drive for 6 off the 2nd ball he faced from Flintoff. Devon Smith appeared to lose sight of a Flintoff delivery and the rest of the day’s play involved Sarwan and Gayle getting within half of the English total. With Chris Gayle already striking 3 sixes and 3 4’s, Day 3 could well be hard labour for the English bowlers.
England vs West Indies 1st Test Highlights Day 1
Cricket highlights: Watch West Indies vs England Day 1 highlights of the 1st test played at Sabina Park, Jamaica on Feb 4, 2009.
Scoreline: England 236/5. Kevin Pietersen 97. Andrew Flintoff 43 no.
KP almost pulled it off – a hundred in his first international knock after the captaincy drama. But a fantastic and important knock that makes statistics like a century fade away. Coming in with England tottering, Pietersen was watchful in parts before pulling out his trademark stuff. Ian Bell who has Owais Shah breathing down his neck started off with some cool shots and then got stuck a bit before being prised out by Chris Gayle. Having reached 236 by end of day’s play, primarily through the KP knock, England will be hoping Flintoff can extend his 43 with a bit more aggressive strokeplay today.
The teams:
West Indies: Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Xavier Marshall, Brendon Nash, Denesh Ramdin, Jerome Taylor, Sulieman Benn, Darren Powell, Fidel Edwards.
England: Andrew Strauss, Alistair Cook, Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Matt Prior, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, Steve Harmison, Monty Panesar
