Watch cricket highlights: India vs New Zealand day 1 highlights from the 3rd Test played at Wellington on April 2, 2009.

Scoreline: India 375/9 – Sachin Tendulkar 62, Harbhajan Singh 60, MS Dhoni 52, Virender Sehwag 48

A day that swung either way repeatedly. The last couple of years have seen Tendulkar playing as well as ever with a couple of differences – he looks more serene now but the amazing conversion ratio (50s into hundreds) he had has reduced. Anyway, the 62 runs especially those scored in the post-lunch session were worth any landmark. Dravid was disappointing today ( 35 – 114 balls, 183 mins) harking back to all those terrible years which saw him once take – was it 60 or 80 balls to get off the mark in the late 1990s. It wasn’t that bad today but a meaningless innings on the 1st day of a test match. Especially when you consider he’s been playing pretty well this series.

The NZ bowlers bowled better than their eventual loot because of several streaky moments in the lower order going India’s way. A very entertaining knock from Harbhajan in any case. And to see Munaf Patel smiling eerily after attempting to pull off a Tendulkar – definitely worth a sleepless night.

The post-tea session had these crazy figures – 35 overs – 185 runs – 4 wickets

Toss: New Zealand have put India in to bat.
Dhoni is back. For New Zealand, Flynn and Southee get into the playing eleven

Vettori: We are trying to work the best strategy to win the game. Normally, in turn, and if we look at this field [brown and bone dry], and I believe it is bat first but we hope you make some things here. The new ball in the first place gives us a chance to do something, if India get off to a good first got back.

Dhoni: If we had won the toss would have batted first. It is a bold step forward for New Zealand. We are very pleased with the preparation. We as a team to know when preparing and when to have a session (the rest).

Pitch report Sky Sports’ Doul Simon: "It sounds like a good batting surface. There are 20-25 mm on the left to the grass surface, but it is all dry. There would be a bit of movement around the seam. It’s going to be a very important first time for the players. It will be a good pace even track and will last for five days. They should make full use of the first hour and a half, there is another lot of hard work by the players. "

India vs New Zealand 2nd Test Highlights Day 1

Watch cricket highlights – India vs New Zealand day 1 highlights from the 2nd Napier Test.

Scoreline: NZ 351/4 – Ross Taylor 151 (204), Jesse Ryder 137 no (220)

The Indians messed up in the field but the Bangalore boys (had to ring that in) were good enough to notch up big hundreds, after coming together with NZ 23/3. In fact, even with the let-offs and numerous close calls, when they played, they played beautifully – Ross Taylor in particular. Ryder hung back a bit but importantly is not out. Ishanth Sharma and Zaheer Khan were super in the morning but as the day progressed, with the fielding lapses and the batting quality, the bowlers sort of got jaded before some late excitement towards end of play.

Team-wise – Dhoni was out for India with a bad back, while Jeetan Patel came in for Kyle Mills

India vs New Zealand, Day 1, 2nd Test, Live Cricket

India outplayed New Zealand in 1st test and they not only lead the series 1-0 but also have opportunity to win test series for the 1st time in New Zealand. Indian team is very much aware of the importance of winning the series to take Indian cricket to a newer heights and Dhoni already mentioned they will put their best effort to win the series with this game. Most of the Indian start batsman are performing well through out the series and that’s a big headache for kiwi bowlers. Also they have some problems in batting department and Vettori hopes they can put a good show.

The Teams

New Zealand: Tim McIntosh , Martin Guptill , Jamie How , Ross Taylor , Jesse Ryder , Brendon McCullum (w) , James Franklin , Daniel Vettori (c) , Iain O’Brien , Jeetan Patel , Chris Martin , Kyle Mills (sub) , Daniel Flynn (sub)

South Africa vs Australia 3rd Test Highlights Day 1

March 20th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in Australia, Match Highlights, South Africa, Test Match

Watch cricket highlights – South Africa vs Australia 3rd Test Highlights Day 1 highlights – from Newlands, Cape Town.

Scoreline: Australia 209 all out – Simon Katich 55, Brad Haddin 42, Mitchell Johnson 35. Dale Steyn 4 and Paul Harris 3 wickets.

Firstly, debuts for 36 year old Bryce McGain (Aus) and 24 year old Imraan Khan (SA).

A super day for all the South African bowlers including Albie, in for his brother. There was the usual review confusion with either side not taking them when they probably should have. Haddin hit 8 boundaries including some stunning shots during his 42 and briefly popped up the possibility of the counter-attacking innings of the series. Not to be. Mitchell Johnson however pulled out his dismissive avatar while launching towards the end.

Imraan Khan and makeshift opener Ashwell Prince looked pretty much at ease and played some uncluttered-mind shots during the SA batting stint going into end of day’s play.

India vs New Zealand 1st Test Highlights Day 1

March 20th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in India, Match Highlights, New Zealand

Watch cricket highlights of 1st test – India vs New Zealand – Day 1’s play from Hamilton, played on March 18, 2009.

Scoreline: New Zealand 279 all out – Daniel Vettori 118, Jesse Ryder 102. Ishanth Sharma 4 wickets. Munaf Patel 3 wickets.
India 29/0

Two sessions to either side. Vettori strangely took charge of the run-scoring while Ryder displayed yet another aspect to his ever-increasing girth reputation. The Indian field settings were set more to Ryder’s recent ODI blitzkrieg than the existing situation. But a super knock by the both batsmen. Ryder eventually pulled out his innate game when on 99 with an unconvincing Chris Martin at the other end – he clouted Ishanth Sharma for a six to get to his debut hundred.

Sehwag hammered out 5 boundaries during the short Indian outing and that was that on Day 1.

India vs New Zealand, 1st Test, Day 1, Live Cricket

March 18th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in India, Live Cricket Streaming, Live Matches, New Zealand, Test Match

Team India managed to win the ODI series 3-1 after losing T20 series to Kiwis but all the matches they won so far are on flat tracks where batsman performed exceptionally well. They lost the final ODI on a bouncy track and the pitch that will be used for test today will be no different. There is need for India to prove to the rest of the world that they are not only masters on flat tracks but can also perform on bouncy pitches during this 3 match test series and with experience and depth in batting I think they should be able to do it.

India Won the Toss and elected to bowl first.

England vs West Indies 1st Test Highlights Day 1

February 5th, 2009 Comments Off Posted in England, Match Highlights, West Indies

Cricket highlights: Watch West Indies vs England Day 1 highlights of the 1st test played at Sabina Park, Jamaica on Feb 4, 2009.

Scoreline: England 236/5. Kevin Pietersen 97. Andrew Flintoff 43 no.

KP almost pulled it off – a hundred in his first international knock after the captaincy drama. But a fantastic and important knock that makes statistics like a century fade away. Coming in with England tottering, Pietersen was watchful in parts before pulling out his trademark stuff. Ian Bell who has Owais Shah breathing down his neck started off with some cool shots and then got stuck a bit before being prised out by Chris Gayle. Having reached 236 by end of day’s play, primarily through the KP knock, England will be hoping Flintoff can extend his 43 with a bit more aggressive strokeplay today.

The teams:
West Indies: Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Xavier Marshall, Brendon Nash, Denesh Ramdin, Jerome Taylor, Sulieman Benn, Darren Powell, Fidel Edwards.
England: Andrew Strauss, Alistair Cook, Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood, Andrew Flintoff, Matt Prior, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, Steve Harmison, Monty Panesar

Upto Tea

Rest

West Indies vs England, 1st Test, Day 1, Live Cricket

Even though England lost against India,  I would say they had a pretty decent series against India during last December and lot has changed since then mainly leadership. Differences between both KP and Moores should have been handled better by ECB but they just want to prove they are boss and made some rubbish announcements forcing both KP and Moores to quit themselves. Anyways Strauss, one of the contenders for captaincy after Michael Vaughan retired will be leading the side during this England tour of West Indies.

West Indies did pretty well against New Zealand early this year and managed to move up by one position in ICC Rankings. They got some new faces (they keep changing the team most) and will be hoping to do well at home.
