Pakistan vs Sri Lanka – 3rd Test – Day 5 – Cricket Highlights

July 27th, 2009 Comments Off on Pakistan vs Sri Lanka – 3rd Test – Day 5 – Cricket Highlights Posted in Cricket Videos, Match Highlights, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Test Match
Pakistan 299 and 425 for 9 dec drew with Sri Lanka 233 and 391 for 4 (Sangakkara 130*, Mathews 64*)

Vaas: “It’s a special moment for me after playing for 15 long years. I’d like to thank all the cricket lovers for supporting me throughout in my career. I’d like to thank my family for their love and support.”

Younis, big smiles as usual

Younis: “They built good partnerships and Sangakkara played really well. But it’s not too bad. We created chances in this series but the collapses cost us badly. The balls get soft very quick and the wicket slowed down quite a bit today. We just need to go and hang in there and learn to finish games. We have a good ODI team, with a couple of good allrounders, and hopefully some of the players can carry their good form from this Test into the ODI series.”

Sangakkara is the Man of the Match for his match-saving innings.

Sanga: “We played a good fourth innings and the players got into some form which bodes well for the ODI series. Angelo is very mature for a guy so young, and hopefully we’ll see bigger and better things from him in the next 12-15 years. We missed Murali really badly, but it shows that the new guys who come in are hungry for success. If Dilshan was fit, and had we made a few more runs after tea, we would have considered going for a win but I think we made the right decision in the end. We look for to play some really professional cricket, and ensuring a good start and finish to each game. Vaas has been a great inspiration for generations of cricketers. We can pay him hundreds of millions of rupees but that won’t make up for his contribution to Sri Lankan cricket.”

Kulasekara has been named Man of the Series.

Kulasekara: “I’m very happy because I played all three Tests. This is my first Man-of-the-Series award.”

India vs New Zealand 3rd ODI Highlights

March 9th, 2009 Comments Off on India vs New Zealand 3rd ODI Highlights Posted in India, Match Highlights, New Zealand

Watch cricket highlights of the 3rd ODI – India vs New Zealand played at Christchurch on March 8, 2009.

Scoreline: India 392/4. Sachin Tendulkar 163 (130) retd hurt, Yuvraj Singh 87 (60), MS Dhoni 68 (58). NZ 334 – Jesse Ryder 105 (80), McCullum 71, Kyle Mills 54 (32), Southee 32 (20)

A big chance missed for Tendulkar to get the first 200 in ODI cricket. Unfortunately cramping out of the game.

For people unfamiliar (like me) with Jesse Ryder, an amazing introduction. McCullum was super as always while Kyle Mills and Southee took apart Munaf and the rest while almost pulling off the incredible.

Australia vs New Zealand 3rd ODI Highlights

Watch cricket highlights of the 3rd ODI – Australia vs New Zealand – played at the SCG, Sydney.

Scoreline: Australia 301. Brad Haddin 109. Mike Hussey 51 (32), Michael Clarke 64. NZ: 269 all out. Grant Elliott 115, Brendon McCullum 36 (27).

After the failed experiment with Clarke as captain in the 2nd ODI, good sense prevailed and Ricky Ponting was rushed back for this game. Haddin was pushed up in place of Warner and it came off, with super strikes all around. Mike Hussey got into T20 sort of attack mode towards the end of the game.

With a target of over 300, and no McCullum at the top (shoulder injury sustained during play), NZ were probably counting on Ross Taylor magic, which skipped this game. Elliott who had a role to play in the 2nd ODI got to a 100 but the NZ run-chase was stifled by a buoyant Aussie performance, that harked back to their glorious run as world champs.

SA vs Australia 1st KFC T20-20 Cricket Highlights MCG

January 12th, 2009 Comments Off on SA vs Australia 1st KFC T20-20 Cricket Highlights MCG Posted in 20-20, Australia, KFC T20, Match Highlights, South Africa, Twenty 20

Cricket Highlights: Australia vs South Africa, the 1st T20 game played at Melbourne (MCG) on January 11, 2009. The man of the day was David Warner 89 (43): 6×6, 7×4. Belting-the-ball at its harshest. And this from a club cricketer who hasn’t even played a single first class game. His 50 came off 19 balls – Afridi, it’s time to get your act together.

Scores: Aus: 182. South Africa 130 – JP Duminy 78 (48), David Hussey 3 wickets.

Well, prematch it was pretty exciting – the prospect of seeing Herschelle Gibbs and Nathan Bracken back in action. Bracken was good as usual, but the Gibbs was situation was left hanging in what-if air, because of a poor umpiring decision in just the 3rd ball he faced.

Earlier, David Warner took the South African bowlers apart in what eventually turned out to be a match-winning knock, considering most of the Aussie order fell away after his dismissal.

Shaun Tait was searing in his first over knocking de Villiers onto his stumps. The Tait show hoever was premature with Duminy eating into him while producing arguably the Moment of the Game – a six off Tait over wicket-keeper Ronchi.

With no one else doing anything particularly noteworthy it’s 1 up for the Aussies in this two match T20 series.

Prematch: Come on Gibbs, what can you produce tomorrow.
