Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI Highlights

Watch cricket highlights – Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI highlights 2009 from Johannesburg.

Scoreline: Australia 303/7. Brad Haddin 62, Michael Clarke 66, Callum Ferguson 41, Mike Hussey 49, Ricky Ponting 40. SA 256 all out – Herschelle Gibbs 82, Kallis 64

The South African chase was on big-time while Gibbs was going with Kallis. At the fall of Gibbs, SA were 150 in the 28th over, but things fell away after that. In a way, the SA chase mirrored the Australian batting except that more of the Aussie top order were able to make sizeable contributions and also get the boundaries away.

Brad Haddin played yet again beautifully and through lots of top order contributions Australia were still able to go past 300 despite faltering majorly after the start from Haddin and Clarke. Callum Ferguson yet again looked headed to a 50 – his typical intelligent shot-placement on display here.

Australia vs South Africa, 3rd ODI, Live Cricket

April 9th, 2009 Comments Off on Australia vs South Africa, 3rd ODI, Live Cricket Posted in Australia, Live Cricket Streaming, Live Matches, One Day Match, South Africa

What a boring series it’s turning out to be, both the matches we had so far are one sided and finished in 3/4th time. I hope things will change today and we can get to see some competitive cricket from both teams.

Pitch report It looks pretty dry. Neil Johnson is doing the report and it’s immensely chuckle-worthy. In the sense, he stands there like a batsman, bends his front knee forward and talks how and what would happen to a batsman. It’s youtube worthy and if you are a Seinfeld fan, you might say, it’s sponge worthy! Not for a moment, he touches the pitch. A ball is placed on a length and he stares at it as if it would melt.

Smith has won the toss and chosen to bat first. "The crowd is fantastic here. We have a good record here. We have gone with the same team."

Ponting: "We would have also batted. There is a bit of breeze around. Hopefully it will do something. We have prepared very well coming into the game. We just failed in one game. Let’s not forget it. Hopefully we can do a good job here. Brett Geeves is in for Ben Laughlin.

Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI Highlights Perth

January 31st, 2009 Comments Off on Australia vs South Africa 5th ODI Highlights Perth Posted in Australia, CB Series, Match Highlights, South Africa

Watch cricket highlights from the Perth 5th and final ODI – SA vs Australia played on January 30, 2009.

Scoreline: SA: 288. Hashim Amla 97, JP Duminy 60 (42), AB de Villiers 60. Aus fall short: 249 all out. Brad Haddin 63, Mike Hussey 78.
South Africa win the series 4-1.

Watching South Africa set a target was quite interesting. For the initial part of their total, South Africa rebuilt through Amla and de Villiers, with both pulling out innovative strokes. Hashim Amla played a couple of Tendulkaresque shots (the over the slips shot he’d pulled out years back vs Alan Donald in South Africa) the patent to which has been handed down unsurprisingly to Virender Sehwag (the over the slip shot). Amla eventually fell short of a century – 97, while Duminy did what he did in the T20 games (Albie Morkel having been dismissed early).

You’d have to say that Australia appeared demoralized by the late Duminy assault – 98 runs came off the final 10 overs.

The Aussie chase never really kicked off, though when Ponting produced a couple of breathtaking drives, it appeared on. The Hussey brothers appeared to take the task of rebuilding the innings a bit to diligently and the result was a very late attempted chase through Mike Hussey and Brad Haddin.

Tsotsobe who had a few embarrassing moments with the bat on debut during the 1st T20 had a splendid game, having come in place of his idol Makhaya Ntini.

For the ranking-inclined, this win by South Africa has catapulted them to the No 1 position in ODI cricket. But they’d probably be happier at having pulled off another win despite the absence of Steyn, Kallis, Boucher and Ntini.

Australia vs South Africa, 4th ODI, Live Cricket

January 26th, 2009 Comments Off on Australia vs South Africa, 4th ODI, Live Cricket Posted in Australia, CB Series, Live Matches, One Day Match, South Africa

Don’t know what’s wrong with Aussie team but they look like just any other team and it’s not so easy to digest their performances after watching them dominating both ODI and Test cricket for more than a decade.

Australia currently trail the series 1-2 and need to win this match to stay alive in the series but looking at Australia performances in 1st three ODI’s, it will not be an easy task. South Africa may not get better chance again to win series against Australia in Australia and I think they should capitalize with two matches to go and only win required to seal the series.

Australia vs South Africa 2nd ODI Highlights Hobart

SA Batting

Watch cricket highlights from the 2nd ODI at Hobart – SA vs Australia – CB Series 2009. Australia won to tie the series 1-1.

Australia set a target of 250 but the South African chase was strange right from the outset – Gibbs pottered around and then got out trying to force the pace of the game. It was almost like the South Africans were thinking too much about the batting powerplay and Albie Morkel. Even with 60 to get off 36 balls, they could have pulled it off if Morkel had got more of the strike. Boucher despite late hits probably was as culpable as the batsmen before him who really couldnt get any boundaries away. Nathan Bracken was brilliant yet again and was the possibly difference between the two sides.

Australia vs South Africa 1st ODI Highlights Cricket At MCG

January 17th, 2009 Comments Off on Australia vs South Africa 1st ODI Highlights Cricket At MCG Posted in Australia

Cricket Highlights: Watch SA vs Australia – 1st One Day match at Melbourne (MCG) from the CB Series 2009, played on January 16, 2009.

Albie Morkel 40 (18) with hitting reminiscent of his IPL (Chennai) performances pulled South Africa out of a losing situation to make for an exciting finish to the game.

Scoreline: Aus: 271/8. Shaun Marsh 79 (97), David Hussey 52 (50) SA: Win, with 3 deliveries to go. Albie Morkel 40 (18), JP Duminy 71 (93), Neil McKenzie 63 (80).

Shaun Marsh finally struck some form and strung a decent partnership with a lucky Ponting before Australia finished quite well, getting 32 runs off the last 3 overs.

Herschelle Gibbs looked cool and then got out in the 20s. Duminy who has been strutting different facets in each game he’s turned out in, played a 70 run knock that didn’t have a single boundary in it and yet was perfect for this sort of a chase. McKenzie turned all nonsense about form on its head with important blows that got the run-rate moving. But there were twists to follow with SA almost adding to the mess they’d created while fielding, losing 4 quick wickets. In earlier times you’d be shaking your head with South Africa 7 down and another 50 to get. But those who watched Albie in the IPL were instead nodding vigorously – Captain Botha though, added drama playing out some dot balls, but by then it was less than run-a-ball. A fantastic knock by Morkel that won him the Man of the Match.

Well test series is over and Aussies must be relieved with the win in Final test. T20 is totally different game and the teams out there are lot different from Test teams and few new faces. It will be very exciting and the team which performs better over next 3hrs will win this game.
