ICL Ahmedabad Rockets vs Chandigarh Lions, 35th Match Highights
Nov 9, 2008, Sun (ICL Match 35) Ahmedabad Rockets beat Chandigarh Lions by 39 runs in a day encounter on Sunday at the Sardar Vallabhai Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Murray Goodwin made a quick 61 of 31 balls, with six fours and one six, to help the Rockets to post a victory over the Lions.
Electing to bat, Ahmedabad Rockets began their innings at rocket speed. Rockets blazed all their cylinders to set up a handsome target of 197 runs in their stipulated 20 overs.
Even after losing first wicket in third over, the Rockets didn’t loose their nerves and carried on in great style to make a big score at a rate of 9.93 runs per over.
Martin Sanjeev (31), who scored three sixes and a four, and skipper Ryan Campbell (28) also chipped in for Rockets.
Skipper Andrew Hall was the most expensive bowler for lions conceding 47 runs in four overs, while Love Ablish took four wickets for 35 runs.
Lions started disastrously as they lost three wickets with just 12 runs on board.
Jason Gillespie, who took two wickets conceding 13 runs, and Rakesh Patel bowled tightly to put Lions on the back foot.
Hall (22) tried to put Lions in the chase, but ended his innings holing out to Reetinder Sodhi off Suman Kalia.
By the time Karanveer Singh (42) and Amit Uniyal (45) launched into late counter-attacks with seven sixes between them, Lions had already lost the advantage to Rockets.
Sodhi was outstanding in the field for Rockets taking three catches and effecting one run-out.
Goodwin was adjudged ‘man of the match’.
