India vs New Zealand 2nd T20 Highlights
Watch cricket highlights: India vs New Zealand 2nd T20 game from Wellington.
Scoreline: India 149. Yuvraj Singh 50 (34). NZ make it off the last ball – Brendon McCullum 69 no, Jesse Ryder 26 (15), Ross Taylor 27.
The Indian batting attempted singles and twos after the initial burst but were throttled by a brilliant spell by Daniel Vettori (4-21-1). In fact 12 of those 21 runs conceded came off two Yuvraj sixes who looked lucky to not have been out first ball to Vettori. His knock stood out in stark contrast to Dhoni, who yet again as he has in the last year and a half – failed to get his big hits away. Having batted through the innings he managed 28 off 30 balls and earned sarcastic posters from the crowd in the process.
The New Zealand chase took off with Jesse Ryder (who looks more respectable with a bat and helmet), but it was in the end all about Brendon f***in McCullum. NZ had the game in control but the spinners (Harbhajan Singh in particular: 4-15-1) kept India in it. One might have mixed views on Dhoni the batsman of the last year, but as captain he’s got it right most of the time. Today with 3 overs to go, he threw Irfan Pathan who’d conceded 25 runs in 2 overs into the cauldron – to give this kind of a moment to a player who most would treat with sympathy considering the last few years of his career – was fantastic to watch. And Pathan brought India right back into it with two wickets and hardly any runs conceded. It all came down to McCullum eventually, with 9 needed off 3 lending a super finish to the game.

India vs New Zealand 1st T20 Highlights
Watch cricket highlights: India vs New Zealand T20 Highlights from Christchurch played on February 25, 2009.
Scoreline: India 162. Suresh Raina 61 (43). NZ win with relative ease with an over to go – Brendon McCullum 56, Guptill 41 (28), Ross Taylor 31 (20), Jacob Oram 29 (15)
Sehwag pulled out the costliest 1st over in intl T20 (19 runs) with 3 huge sixes off his 1st 3 deliveries faced. In fact, the Indians whacked 13 6’s in contrast to a total of 6 fours, while appearing that they too believed in the crush-em hype riding this tour. Could have been a humbling 1st knock in NZ for India, had it not been for Raina picking things up right at the end. Yusuf Pathan also strutted his stuff with 3 huge blows before Jacob Oram did what Adam Voges did during the Aus vs NZ T20 game to end Yusuf’s quest for six sixes in an over.
The NZ chase centred around a subdued McCullum (relative to, say, the Bangalore vs Kolkata IPL match). India never seriously were allowed to threaten cos of the consistent partnerships on a day that saw Oram too, announce his return. With McCullum batting through the innings, a win was obvious – how fast remained the only question. By an over was the answer.
