India vs England 4th Day Highlights 2nd Mohali Test Cricket
Kevin Pietersen about Yuvraj Singh: “You’ve got a pie chucker like Yuvraj Singh who comes out and can chuck some filth out at you. I mean, hey, I’m pretty happy when that happens”.
Update: Watch Yuvraj Singh’s response to KP
The video starts with this statement by KP. Well, I’m not too sure about how happy KP has been facing the pie chucker, because he’s hardly scored against Yuvraj and been out twice already on this tour. It’s gonna be really intriguing tomorrow – KP just scored a super hundred yesterday but will be under the pressure of going for a win (unlikely) or saving the test, whereas Yuvraj has nothing to lose when he comes on to bowl. Also, when Piyush Chawla had KP struggling during the tour of England, was he a pie chucker too?
Zaheer Khan was breathtaking in the morning along with Harbhajan who had his best phase of bowling in this test. James Anderson (in particular) and Stuart Broad tamed all cocky Indian thoughts of a quick lead with a fantastic line and accurate length over after over. With Sehwag getting run out to a Jonty moment by Ian Bell, India responded with a laboured batting display that looked like it was playing out time. Surprisingly, England who had inched ahead with 3 wickets for not much, opted to bowl wide of the stumps, with the point positioned deep for Gambhir (who has been out edging to slips). But Gambhir showed a new facet to his game – patience, something that seems to have been honed during his 1st innings knock alongside Dravid. The problem with this approach of patience by Gambhir and Laxman was that in the event of a flurry of wickets the eventual Indian lead could have been chaseable by England tomorrow. All that conjecture however was flung out of the window with the ease of a pie-chucker, by Yuvraj scoring 39 off just 40 deliveries.
All the anticipation of the reception greeting him in the wake of the Sledging incident with Pietersen, came to nothing as no one had a go at anyone.
The 1st half of the morning session tomorrow could yet yield a result in this game.
Yuvraj Singh Responds To KP Pie Chucker Statement
Kevin Pietersen had this to say about Yuvraj Singh: “You’ve got a pie chucker like Yuvraj Singh who comes out and can chuck some filth out at you. I mean, hey, I’m pretty happy when that happens”.
In the amusing press conference today, Yuvraj Singh had this to say in response, among several other things (including an obligatory admiration of KP the player):
“Useless bowler, getting out 5 times to him, useless batting I would say.”
“His action is useless, but if he works hard on his bowling, he can be a good bowler.” (a reference to KP asking Yuvraj to concentrate on his batting)
“Ya, I’ll give him some tips. I’ll tell him how to bowl in the rough.”
KP Switch Shot Six vs Harbhajan Singh Cricket Video
A cricket video of Kevin Pietersen hitting Harbhajan Singh for a massive six with the switch shot during the 2nd India vs England Mohali Test Day 3.
Pietersen used the shot several times en-route to his hundred, and on another occasion got a four off Amit Mishra. At the end of the video is a bit involving umpires Asad Rauf and Harper enacting the shot among themselves and discussing it with KP.
India vs England 2nd Mohali Test Highlights 3rd Day | KP Hundred
Scoreline: England 282/6. Kevin Pietersen 144, Andrew Flintoff 62, Alistair Cook 50
Brief Highlights also available in Video: After a delayed start to play, India were right there snapping at England middle-order, with two quick wickets. England were 1 run and 2 wickets down, when Kevin Pietersen stepped in to see Yuvraj Singh – a bowler he’s been troubled by in the ODIs and previous test – given the 3rd over the day. A fascinating duel ensued, with Yuvraj almost snaring KP off the last ball of the over. Oddly, Yuvraj didn’t bowl again for a while.
Pietersen went on to produce a counter-attacking century – easily one of the great hundreds in recent times. It included the moment of the day – a Switch Shot Six off Harbhajan Singh. KP has hardly looked himself on this tour – even the ODI hundred he scored was just about ok. This hundred today made up for all that – the moving around the crease, switch-shots, threats of a switch-shot before adapting to the threat-induced new line of the ball, and those glorious drives. The Indian bowlers were so put off by the attacking partnership by Pietersen-Flintoff that they took to bowling outside the off (pacers) and leg (Mishra). Along the way, KP got involved in a Sledging contest with Yuvraj Singh.
India however came back remarkably in the last few moments of the game, getting first KP and then Flintoff off the last ball of the day – a super catch by Gambhir.
When Zaheer Khan first came into the Indian team, he had a fantastic yorker, which disappeared for several years, surfacing now and then. Two of them popped up today in searing fashion.
Yuvraj Singh Kevin Pietersen Sledging Video | Mohali Test
A cricket video featuring Yuvraj Singh and KP having a go at each other. This occurred during the 2nd Test at Mohali. Pietersen along with Flintoff had several verbals with Yuvraj Singh during the 2008 England vs India Test and ODI series.
As a continuation of the ongoing exchanges, Yuvraj appeared to imitate KP who has a cracked rib. As Pietersen was closer to the stump mike, we get to hear him saying:
Doesn’t change the man you are.
You’re a cricketer not god, Yuvraj Singh.
Concentrate on your batting, you’ll play a bit more
I’m a little bit tougher than you are brother.
