Mitchell Johnson 7 Wickets Australia vs South Africa Perth Test Highlights

December 23rd, 2008 Posted in Match Highlights

Watch a sensational spell of fast bowling by Australia’s Mitchell Johnson during the 1st Perth Test on Day 2.

Johnson’s final figures at the end of the 2nd Day read – 18-2-42-7, but what made it one of the finest bowling performances in recent times was that his last spell fetched him 5 wickets in 20 balls for 2 runs.

After toiling to bowl out Australia eventually for 375, South Africa started off slow and after Smith 48 and Amla 47 fell in close succession, De Villiers 63 and Kallis 63 took them past 200. And that’s when Johnson came in for his final spell, even getting a wicket of his final ball of the day. Duminy appeared to have been unlucky after replays showed the ball might have come off his forearm – a tough one for Aleem Dar. When you consider the kind of searing spell going on, it was probably a matter of time, anyway.
