October 14 (ICL Match 6) Chennai Superstars defeated Ahmedabad Rockets by 35 runs in a day and night encounter at the Lal Bahadur Shastri stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Disciplined bowling and tight fielding by Superstars made it difficult for Ahmedabad Rockets batsmen to score runs.

Ahmedabad Rockets lost both the openers – Ryan Campbell (5) and Parvez Aziz (2) with just 13 runs on board.

Reetinder Sodhi who put up scintillating batting performance during his last match against Delhi Giants, teamed up with captain Damien Martyn to take the score to 84.

Sodhi was run out on individual score of 22.

Soon after Sodhi’s departure, Martyn fell on 52 caught by Hariesh off Jesuraj.

After the departure of Martyn, Ahmedabad Rockets batsmen were unable to put up resistance against the Superstars bowlers and wickets fell at regular intervals.

Put into bat, Chennai Superstars scored 135 losing five wickets in 16 overs. The stipulated quota of 20 overs could not be bowled due to waste of time following power cut.

The target for Ahmedabad Rockets was revised to 143 in 16 overs according to the VGD system.

In the Chennai Superstars innings, Russel Arnold (46) and Ganapathi Vignesh (38) helped their team reach a score of 135 in 16 overs, after Superstars lost two early wickets.
